Child
For Children
We strongly believe in patient education, particularly when it concerns your children.

We will educate you and your child about the causes of tooth decay, the importance of professional examinations and cleanings, proper dental hygiene and diet, fluoride, and the use of dental sealants.
In addition, we watch for potential orthodontic problems and discuss with you any need for early treatment.
Your Child’s First Visit to the Dentist
We recommend that your child begin seeing a dentist between the ages of 2 and 3. Be sure to schedule regular dental appointments from then on.
Visit the American Dental Association website at www.ADA.org, type in National Children’s Dental Health, and check out some of the resources available for children, such as “How to Brush,” “How to Floss,” “Visit the Dentist,” “Food Pyramid,” and “The Parts of a Tooth.”
Visit your local library and look for these children’s book titles related to teeth and oral health:
- Show Me Your Smile: A Visit to the Dentist (Dora the Explorer) by Christine Ricci and Robert Roper
- Elmo Visits the Dentist (Sesame Street) by Dalmatian Press
- The Tooth Book by Dr. Seuss
- Arthur’s Tooth by Marc Brown
- Doctor DeSoto by William Steig
- Just Going to the Dentist by Mercer Mayer
- Little Rabbit’s Loose Tooth by Lucy Bate
- The Mango Tooth by Charlottle Pomerantz
- The Berenstain Bears Visit the Dentist by Stan and Jan Berenstain
- Pulling My Leg by Jo Carson
- Albert’s Impossible Toothache by Barbara Williams
We look forward to meeting your child and making their first dental experience fun and memorable! Our office is equipped with TVs and headphones for viewing cartoons, and we offer prizes and balloons. We will also introduce your child to Mr. Thirsty and rides in the chair.
If you have dental insurance, please ensure that your child’s coverage is added to your dental plan. We would be happy to assist you with any questions.
